How to Join
Many people have expressed interest in shaping our community’s future through deferred gifts to endowment at the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County. In some cases, the Foundation has learned about such provisions only after generous individuals died and the Community Foundation received the gifts. A number of living donors have also notified the Foundation of future planned gifts. In response, in 2008 we developed the Legacy Society.
In contrast to our Donor Wall that recognizes cumulative giving, the Legacy Society helps us recognize and thank those who express their commitment to the community by making planned gifts for community endowment. Most any type of planned gift qualifies, including gifts by will or trust, as well as beneficiary designations in life insurance policies or retirement plans. You may designate any existing fund to receive your gift -- whether for a local agency, a field of interest such as children or basic needs, or an unrestricted grantmaking fund -- or create your own fund through a testamentary gift. If you have included the Community Foundation in your estate plan, we would appreciate the opportunity to publicly thank you during your lifetime.
Some planned giving donors have chosen to remain anonymous. The following people have consented to be publicly recognized as Legacy Society members to encourage others' generosity. We thank all who leave a legacy of caring for our community through this type of giving.
